Renewing a long musical association, Los Robles Master Chorale and Los Robles Children's Choir will welcome in spring with a joint concert on Sunday, March 21 at 4:00 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks. "Reflections" will feature separate and combined performances by LRMC and LRCC's Bel Canto and Amadeus Choirs.

Under the direction of LRCC artistic director Donna Young, the children of Bel Canto will sing Handel's "Art Thou Troubled?" and "If You Sing an Allelu" by Steve Kupferschmid. Young will lead the Amadeus Choir as it performs "Come Ye Sons of Art" and "Sound the Trumpet" by Henry Purcell, "The Storm is Passing Over" by Charles Albert Tindley, and an arrangement of "How Can I Keep From Singing" by Judith Herrington.

LRMC artistic director Lesley Leighton will conduct the chorale in such favorites as "Salvation is Created" by Russian composer Pavel Chesnekov, the African folk melody "Wana Baraka," arranged by Shawn Kirchner, a setting of "America," and two contrasting settings of "O Magnum Mysterium" - by Renaissance master Tomas Luis da Victoria and contemporary composer Morten Lauridsen. The men of the chorale will also perform Roger Wagner's rousing arrangement of classic American western songs.

The adult and children's choruses will join forces for two pieces. Young will conduct David L. Brunner's "A Simple Boat" and Leighton the multi-movement "Benedicite" by Andrew Carter. Both artistic directors will take part in a pre-concert conversation, which is free to all concertgoers.

Since its founding thirteen years ago, Los Robles Children's Choir has enjoyed a close collaborative relationship with LRMC. More information about LRCC can be found at www.singingchildren.com.

"Reflections" will be performed Sunday, March 21 at 4 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The pre-concert conversation will begin at 3 PM. Advance tickets are $20; $25 the day of the concert.
