Chorale Announces its
2014-2015 Concert Season
Los Robles Master Chorale is excited to announce its 2014-2015 concert season! Under the leadership of Artistic Director Lesley Leighton, LRMC is one of southern California's premier regional choirs. The 2014-2015 season offers newly commissioned music in addition to well-known choral works, both sacred and secular.
The season opens in November with Handel's Messiah performed by LRMC's smaller group, êkō, with soloists, organ, and continuo, observing the performance practice of the Baroque era. Love the piece? Come sing along at LRMC's first annual Messiah Sing-Along.
In December, the chorale will thrill your soul with warmth and cheer in the holiday concert, A Joyful Noise! From the traditional The First Nowell to the jazzy Swingle Bells, join us in musical celebration of the holiday spirit.
For the March concert, LRMC will present French composer Maurice Duruflé's Requiem (1947) and Ralph Vaughan Williams' Mass in G minor (1922). Included in the concert will be a world premiere performance of a piece written by Jasper Randall, LRMC's Composer in Residence.
In May, the chorale will conclude its season with Sea to Sea, an a cappella program that features music from the United Kingdom and the United States. Included are selections by Renaissance composers Taverner, Byrd, Tallis, Purcell, Gibbons, and Morley, as well as Romantic composers Robert Pearsall and Charles Stanford. American music showcased on the program includes William Billings' Sacred Harp Tradition, Randall Thompson's Alleluia, and Moses Hogan's three American Spirituals, Good News, the Chariot's Comin', Abide with Me, and Elijah Rock. These are just some of the choral selections for this concert that includes music from both sides of the Atlantic in preparation for a concert tour to Ireland in June, 2015.
Chorale Appoints Jasper Randall as
Composer in Residence
Los Robles Master Chorale is pleased to welcome Composer in Residence Jasper Randall, who thrilled the concert audience last spring with his beautiful choral setting of e.e. cummings' i carry your heart. A native of Oregon, Randall (b. 1974) studied music at Azusa Pacific University. He completed his graduate degree at USC's Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television with David Raskin and Elmer Bernstein, among many others. Randall's resumé includes over one hundred feature films such as Avatar, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Pitch Perfect, Pacific Rim, The Smurfs (1 & 2), The Muppets, and Despicable Me 2. As a vocalist, he has performed for dozens of television shows and major recording artists such as Josh Groban, David Cook, and Adam Lambert. LRMC is looking forward to debuting this season's commissioned works by Jasper Randall. We hope you'll join us for an inspirational season of great music!
