Los Robles Master Chorale Announces
2010-11 Season

Los Robles Master Chorale Artistic Director Lesley Leighton has announced the chorale's 2010-11 season. Six concert programs will feature a wide array of choral music exploring love, loss, and introspection, as well as traditional holiday fare. The season will also highlight the music of John Rutter, considered one of the world's leading composers of choral music.

The season begins Sunday, November 14 and Sunday, November 21 with performances by the Consort Singers, LRMC's 30-voice chamber ensemble. "Introspection" will include sacred and secular music ranging from Georg Philip Telemann and Michael Haydn to English folk song arrangements and American spirituals.

The holiday season will be welcomed with two concerts. "Holiday Treasures," a family-friendly performance on Sunday, December 12 at 2 pm, that presents seasonal favorites by Mendelssohn, Rutter, Roger Wagner, and Irving Berlin, and will include audience sing-alongs on a number of popular carols. On Saturday, December 18 at 8 pm, the chorale will perform "Holiday Presence," which will feature separate performances by the women and the men of the chorale, as well as combined performances of such pieces as René Clausen's Magnificat, Vaughan Williams's Fantasia on Christmas Carols, and the premiere of a new piece by John Rutter, jointly commissioned by Los Robles Master Chorale through a partnership with Chorus America.

The chorale will welcome in spring at a joint concert with Los Robles Children's Choir, under the director of Leighton and LRCC artistic director Donna Young, on Sunday, March 20 at 4 pm. "Eternal Love" will feature John Rutter's Mass of the Children, as well as the world premiere performance of Five Texts by Hans Christian Andersen, composed by Lesley Leighton. Consort Singers return Sunday, April 17 and Sunday, May 1, exploring "Loss & Love" through an eclectic range of the music by ancient and contemporary composers.

The full chorale will close the season on Saturday, May 7 at 8 pm with "Reminiscence," a concert featuring John Rutter's Requiem, along with choral works by J.S. Bach, Mendelssohn, Bruckner, Rameau, Orlando di Lasso, Howard Hanson, Paul Liljestrand, Roger Quilter, Knut Nystedt, Franz Biebl, and Randall Thompson.

In addition to its regular concert season, LRMC will also perform at the Hollywood Bowl Easter Sunrise Service under the direction of Maestra Leighton, and at two community outreach concerts at University Village in Thousand Oaks. LRMC will also host its first High School Choral Leadership Workshop in October, and its second annual High School Choral Festival in March 2011.
